With so much information readily available online, clients sometimes question the need for a Realtor to do a job that they think they can do online. The truth is, that while a few do find success with selling their home, others don't. Some people just don't have the resources to make it work. That's where your friendly, neighbourhood Century 21 Realtor comes in. Here are 8 reasons you may want to consider a Realtor when you sell your house:

1. Education and Experience

Last week, on the morning of November 19, 2020, the Saskatchewan Realtors Association (SRA) made the decision to temporarily put a stop to all open houses under its Realtors until the end of the year.

What Does This Mean?

This open house pause means that, at least until the end of the year, any home on the market can only be viewed by appointment. This decision has been made so that we, as Realtors, are doing our part to respect public health. Keeping our clients - both buyers and sellers - safe from the risk of community transmission during this time is important to us.

In addition to making an appointment with your Realtor to see a home, you will still have access to see all of the full listings online. Virtual tours are another…

Covid-19 has changed the way we live, work and play. It's changed the way we shop at businesses, and changed the way we conduct business ourselves. This change has negatively impacted the world's housing market. Buyers have become more unsure than ever about starting the process, and sellers are hesitant to even put their homes up for sale. With precautions and orders in place to slow the spread of the virus, being physically present for any part of the home buying or selling process is difficult, sometimes impossible, to do. Experts in Canada, as well as worldwide, are making ominous predictions about the housing market's future based on the results they are seeing right now.

A heading image of poppies growing in a sunlit meadow.

It's been 102 years since the armistice was signed, ending the first world war. 102 years. Think about that. Think about the history your family has made in that time frame. Think about all the moves in each generation: each loss, each gain, each joy and each pain. Really and truly reflect on all of it. What do you feel?

What does Remembrance Day mean?

For most of us, Remembrance day is a day off of work. We maybe go to a community church service, or we maybe just wear a red poppy on our chest while we go on with our lives. For most of us, it's just a day.  We sit stiffly for an hour to respect those who are old enough to actually remember the horrors of war...but we can never truly grasp the concept of this day.

As your children grow and change, their bedrooms do the same. As an early form of self-expression, their room within your home is an important part of them growing up. Both overpricing and underpricing your home when selling can be dangerous to your finances, for different reasons. However, both of these are similar in that they will result in an unfair market price. Now, it's easier for a seller to understand underpricing, but overpricing is a trickier subject. Overpricing can be more of a hindrance to the seller! How exactly? Let's go through the common drawbacks:

Longer Market Time

A photo depicting an older clock, ticking the time away.

Homes priced out of their value range invariably take much longer to sell. The longer a home is on the market, the less valuable it becomes. Nobody gets excited about a property that has anguished for months and months on the market. In fact, the longer a home remains on the market, the greater the tendency for buyers to…

First impressions are hard to break! Most home owners will form an opinion about your home within seconds of seeing it for the first time. They'll probably spend less than 15 minutes touring your house, and they'll likely be looking at other homes with similar features during their house hunting. Remember, this is almost like a job interview. You have one chance for a first impression, so make your home the one that buyers remember by giving them a GREAT first impression.

Curb Appeal

The way your home looks from the street can honestly make or break a sale. A large percentage of potential home owners (and current homeowners) decide whether or not to look inside of a house based on its curb appeal. The good news is that you…
