Major renovations done. Gutted the house inside and outside. Removed all lathe and plaster, wiring, plumbing, flooring and windows. Increased the depth of the exterior walls to increase the new insulation to R20. Added all new windows (main level) as well added new wiring, lighting, drywall, paint, flooring, cabinetry. The house was originally a 2 bedroom but previous owners converted it to a one-bedroom. Kept it as a one-bedroom and added a walk-in closet to the main bedroom. Also opened up the wall separating the living/dining and the kitchen. Reconfigured the bathroom and added a stackable washer/dryer to the bathroom. In the basement, added another bedroom to the existing basement bedroom. Approximately in 1980 the house was lifted and a new concrete basement was poured. This house has a very good basement for a 102-year-old house. On the exterior we updated the siding with vinyl and added new soffit, facia, and eaves. Added all new sidewalks and regrew the grass. Added a large perennial flower garden to the front of the house and perennial shrubs to the side of the house. Have Blueberries, Sour Cherry, Saskatoon, Elderberry, Cranberry, Haskap, Strawberries, Grapes, and Raspberries planted. Also have a decent size productive garden with 10 small raised beds. The village of Briercrest is 30 minutes from Moose Jaw, 45 minutes from Regina, and 15 minutes from Avonlea. The village offers a quiet and peaceful life with great and helpful village neighbours. The house is next door to the town office, a children’s playground, and the village’s community center/library. The village has a museum, Mechanic, insurance agent, and indoor ice rink. Bus service is available to students to attend.
